We all remember the time when we went to the mall and spent our hard earned quarters on the machines of enjoyment. Those were simpler times when we had little in the way of cares in this world other than beating the next level of that video game.
As such we spent more and more money on the arcade games and to this day we some times wish that we were that age again.
However, there is a new evolution that is now moving around. This looks to spell the end of arcade games as we know it. Of course this is going to be the computer and the power of the games that can be played on the machines.
We are seeing our youth staying home and not going out to the places where they once spent their afternoons. The world has changed in a big way.
Arcade games used to be the top of the heap as far as realism and fun. The game systems of the day were not able to match the power of the arcade games.
This was because of the fact that most of the game systems featured poor graphics and slow play. The arcade games had all the realism and the graphics that we were seeking in this world and all for a price we could afford.
But the advent of the personal computer really stepped in the way. The games became so much more complicated and they were able to be played at home rather than having to go out. Then there was the fact that once you bought the game you were no longer needing to pay. So the arcade games have really started to fade into the back drop to say the least.
The Beginning
The arcades of the world did not start to spring up until the eighties. This was considered the height of the video game boom. The Atari system was first introduced and people were playing at home and at the arcade. The Atari system was great but it offered very limited game play and the cartridges were expensive and many had to save money to get them.
Fading The fading of the arcades really started to happen when the Nintendo system was first released. With one plumber the entire video game industry was changed for ever. The arcades tried to keep up, buying higher quality games and offering more action for your money.
However, things would never be the same as the number of games for the Nintendo started to rise.
The End Now days you hardly see an arcade. Every once in a while you will see one that has managed to hang on despite the fact that they are losing money in most cases. The computers of the day have managed to bring about the major downfall of the arcade games industry.
As such people are seeking their entertainment at home where they feel safer and more comfortable all the way around.
